In the beginning......

ok, well we've all had some sort of relationship or currently HAVE relationships, but how do we all get an idea of WHAT kind of relationship we want, or what do we want to gain from such relationships. Yeah, there are those relationships we have no control over [i.e. with our parents or siblings or children], but when it comes to relationships with the opposite sex, just where did we begin our "idea" of what a relationship really is or is made of? I'm pretty sure, speaking from the female standpoint, we were disillusioned by our parents or grandparents with the idea of the princess being swept away by a prince and living happily ever after....and some of us probably still live with that disillusion in the back of our minds [or in the front lol]. So, I would like to know how others feel they have come to know what their idea of a relationship is, especially from a guy's standpoint.....or perhaps someone out there has some words of widsom on this and why would our ancestors as it were, give us such terminal false hope?
